A Special Note from Third Root:

Since opening our doors in Flatbush last August, we have served over 250 people every week with Community Acupuncture, private massage and acupuncture treatments, yoga classes, herbal consultations, and educational programs. The yoga classes that we provide are among the most accessible in the City, and we can say with pride that we have not turned anyone away from a treatment for lack of funds. For those who can’t afford the bottom of our sliding scale, we have created a Health Scholarship Program. We have developed yoga classes for specific communities that are underserved and marginalized, and are currently building classes for veterans, the formerly incarcerated, and people living with HIV and AIDS. All of these programs are a new approach to traditional forms of healthcare, as well as a way to intersect our work with imperative social justice work.

It has been a wonderful process to witness and participate in a community health center really taking the shape of the community. We have put our trust in you, our community, supporters, friends, comrades, and you have shown up. Your support with innovative ideas, enrollment in our Herbal Education Program, volunteer hours, organizational networking, and pure presence has helped to build Third Root in its first toddling year. As a testament to our commitment to you, we have incorporated so many of your ideas, requests, and feedback into our daily work at Third Root! Prenatal Yoga and Big Person Little Person Yoga, a yoga class every Tuesday evening that directly benefits our Health Scholarship Fund, staff trainings on social justice work and organizing skills, our Herbal Education Program, and our Community Health Workshops have all come from YOU! We stand firm in our commitment to make certain that we provide healthcare as a human right, working through systems of privilege and oppression, with accountability to our communities.

We hope you'll join us in strengthening alternative forms of community-based healthcare by contributing $50, or whatever larger or smaller amount you can give. We are asking that you join us in strengthening alternative forms of community-based healthcare by making a contribution to achieve those goals. We become a strong community by supporting just community visions. We need to raise $20,000 to pay debts incurred in the development and building of Third Root - your donation will move us toward that goal! Send a check to us at 380 Marlborough Rd, Brooklyn, NY 11226 or donate through our website at www.thirdroot.org. We hope to see you for treatments or classes in our recently expanded space, at our events, and in the neighborhood. Working together, we are busting through barriers and building social justice through accessible healthcare!

Be well,
Angela, Green, Jacoby, Ji-Hye, John, Julia, and Romina
